Koh Chang: Run Hard, Eat Harder, Recover Smarter

Koh Chang Trail 2025 was not just about racing through rivers and mud. It turned into a four-day “racecation” that mixed sweat, scenery, and seriously good food. Here is how the trip unfolded.

Day 1: Touchdown and Trail Vibes

The journey started with the classic multi-hop: Singapore to Bangkok to Trat to van to ferry to Koh Chang. Before even picking up the race pack, there was time for a temple stop at San Chao Pho and a quick coffee hit at Tastory Café. Checked in at Chivapuri Beach Resort – the calm before the storm.

Day 2: Mud, Medals, Crabs and Lunches

Race morning was a wet one. Heavy rain at dawn meant mud, rivers, and slippery trails galore. The 15 km category gave runners a taste of everything – streams, climbs, and a beach finish – while the 30 km dished out raw hills, ropes, and endless river crossings. Medals secured, recovery mode kicked in with a short walk to Bang Bao Lighthouse, then a lunch feast at Chai Chet Resort featuring blue swimming crabs. The day wrapped with edible-flower fine dining at Khao Kwan Restaurant. Yes, every dish looked like it belonged in a garden.

Day 3: Coffee, Waterfalls and Trat Oysters

With the race done, it was time to play. Kai Bae Viewpoint showed off postcard-perfect Koh Man Nok. Fig Café served up slow-bar coffee, followed by a wade-through-water adventure to Than Mayom Waterfall. Lunch at The Spa Koh Chang Resort, then a gondola-style ride through Salak Khok Mangroves. A massage at Centara Tropicana kept recovery on track, while dinner at White Sand Beach featured Trat oysters as the ultimate post-run protein shot. Checked in at KC Grande Resort with the waves as a soundtrack.

Day 4: One Last Cuppa

The island farewell included a ferry ride back, a lookout stop at Khao Wong Wian, and a final coffee at Warista Café and Garden. Because no ToughASIA trip ends without one last caffeine hit.

Racecation Verdict

Koh Chang delivered the full package: muddy trails, rope climbs, cheering locals, fresh seafood, flower-themed meals, waterfalls, massages, and coffee stops at every turn. It proved that a race weekend can be about more than the finish line -it is about balancing the pain of the trail with the pleasures of the journey.
