SCORE Marathon 2026 Presented by AIA Vitality has reached a defining milestone, attracting a record-breaking 51,077 participants over two days and earning official recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records as Malaysia’s Largest Running Event. Held over July 18 and 19, the festival of running transformed Putrajaya into a vibrant celebration, drawing participants from 53 countries across the 42KM, 21KM, 10KM, and 5KM categories. The celebrations peaked when SCORE Sports Management chief executive officer Patricia Tan received the official certificate from a Malaysia Book of Records representative.

On the racecourse, Vietnamese athletes dominated the flagship 42KM Overall Open categories. Huynh Anh Khoi captured the men’s crown with a time of 2:26:32, while Pham Ti Hong Le emerged as the women’s champion, crossing the finish line in 2:45:33. Both champions took home RM4,000 and a trophy. Huynh, who finished runner-up in 2024, expressed his delight at finally securing the title. He noted that the course was quite challenging because of its rolling hills, making his victory and finishing time even more satisfying. Competing in the event for the first time, Pham praised the beautiful course, welcoming volunteers, and excellent organisation.

The men’s marathon podium was completed by Kenya’s Martin Onesmus and South Korea’s Munjin Yu. In the women’s category, Vietnam’s Vu Khanh Linh and Japan’s Yuri Hayashi took second and third places respectively. Meanwhile, Muhd Haziq Hamzah and Jodie Lee emerged as the fastest Malaysian finishers in the marathon, each receiving RM2,000.

In the 21KM event, Singapore’s two-time SEA Games marathon gold medallist Soh Rui Yong clinched the men’s title, fending off Malaysia’s K. Prabudass. Reflecting on the event, Prabudass shared his excitement about racing alongside his good friend and participating in a historic, record-breaking edition. Singapore also topped the women’s 21KM podium through Goh Shing Ling, who finished ahead of New Zealand’s Chi-Wen Hung and compatriot Han Qinfei.

This year’s event also marked the debut of the SCORE Double Challenge, which saw over 6,000 determined runners testing their endurance across two consecutive days of racing to earn unique interlocking medals. Tan highlighted that the organisation’s primary focus this year was enhancing the overall race experience, from introducing premium medal designs to expanding activities in the Race Village.

Looking ahead, Tan revealed ambitions to continue growing the event by attracting more international runners from neighbouring countries, further contributing to Malaysia’s sports tourism industry. The successful execution of SCORE Marathon 2026 Presented by AIA Vitality underscores its growing legacy, supported by various sponsors, government agencies, and a passionate running community.
