Get ready, Vipers! The mountains are calling. This November, Malaysia’s most iconic obstacle course race (OCR) is heading to the highlands for its most epic adventure yet: the Tropicana Viper Challenge Genting Highlands 2025. Expect cool air, crazy climbs, and a whole lot of mud.

“We would like to curate different Viper Challenge experiences at different venues,” said Riduwan Matni, CEO of MUSE Group, the organiser behind the adrenaline-fueled series. “Getting a venue on the mountains is a rare find and we are delighted to be able to work with Tropicana to develop this unique experience of Viper Challenge at Genting Highlands.”

This isn’t just another course. It’s a playground above the clouds. Picture it: crisp air slicing through misty trails, rolling slopes that test your lungs, and panoramic views you won’t have time to admire because you’ll be too busy conquering obstacles. “On the mountains, the air will be cooler and fresher. The terrain is expected to be undulating and a challenge in itself. Those coming for the Tropicana Viper Challenge in Genting Highlands can expect a unique experience that they could not find elsewhere,” Riduwan shared.

And yes, things are about to get dirty. “This is where many of the obstacles will take advantage of the terrain. Participants can expect a challenging run and be prepared to get dirty.”

Viper is also bringing back a fan-favourite beast: the Ring Swing Slide and Catch The Net. “It has always been a crowd favourite and we’re excited to bring it back as a signature challenge in Genting,” said Riduwan. If you’ve done it before, you know the rush. If you haven’t, this is the year you find out why people keep coming back for more.

Beyond the mud pits and rope climbs, Viper Challenge is roping in the local Genting community to make the weekend a full-blown festival of fitness. “At all our events, we plan to engage the local communities and businesses to be part of the experience. We would like to see the local communities take advantage of events such as Viper Challenge by either becoming participants or showcasing their products to inbound participants,” he explained. “We are working with the business communities at Genting to extend offers and discounts to participants. More to be announced shortly.”

And for those who are still on the fence, thinking OCRs are just for the hardcore crowd, Riduwan has news for you. “Many get the wrong impression of OCR like Viper Challenge, where we focus on camaraderie and a fun day out rather than pure competition. At Viper Challenge, you get a chance to play outdoors and enjoy a day out with friends and family. For those who want competition, they could take part in the race, but let’s enjoy the journey.”

That “journey” now starts even earlier, with Viper Kids joining the family. “We strongly believe that a healthy and adventurous lifestyle should start at an early age. This is why we have just introduced Viper Kids, since taking over Viper Challenge last July. Viper Kids is where we introduce OCR to kids as young as four years old in a fun and safe environment,” Riduwan said. “For the older crowd, a healthy lifestyle begins with the courage to take the first step. The obstacles at Viper Challenge are about overcoming the mind to push the body, and you’ll be surprised what the body can do, especially under some stress.”

And as for what awaits the ToughASIA community? “It will be a very enjoyable edition and they must be prepared to get dirtier than usual,” Riduwan teased. “Everyone can look forward to a trip up Genting Highlands, whether to enjoy the cool climes or a spot of shopping and entertainment. Only this time, there’s a Viper Challenge event they can take part in.”
