100 Days to Go: World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 Launches SG60 Swim Challenge

Preparations for the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 (WCH 2025) are kicking up a notch with 100 days to go before the start of the Championships. This morning at ActiveSG Bukit Canberra Swimming Complex, over 80 members of the Singapore sporting community gathered for the launch of the first community programme – the SG60 Swim Challenge. Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, Mr. Edwin Tong attended the event to kickstart the SG60 Swim Challenge which aims to encourage people to stay active and connect with each other through swimming.

Alongside the launch of the SG60 Swim Challenge, the newly launched GameOn SG60 web application will house information on all WCH 2025 community programme, enable participants to register for the SG60 Swim Challenge, and encourage meaningful donations to SportCares. Our official mascots for Singapore 2025 also made their debut public appearance.

General admission tickets for the 11 July to 3 August Championships are now available from $20 at https://www.worldaquatics-singapore2025.com/tickets.

Community Leaders & Athletes Dive in for the SG60 Swim Challenge

Mr. Edwin Tong signalled the start of the SG60 Swim Challenge – a Pesta Sukan Signature Event under GetActive! Singapore – with a ceremonial starting horn. Three teams, totalling 18 swimmers, completed the first 60 laps of the SG60 Swim Challenge. Singapore Aquatics President Prof. Kenneth Goh led a team consisting of a TeamSG swimmer, a T100 triathlete and residents from Sembawang. The second and third swim teams comprised similar group representatives, with staff from MVGX, the Sustainability Solutions Partner for WCH 2025, joining the third team. Three professional triathletes who are in town for the Singapore T100 each joined a team, as well as seven Sembawang residents.

Amongst the athletes participating in the swim challenge were TeamSG swimmers Teong Tzen Wei and open water swimmer Artyom Lukasevits. They were joined by former TeamSG representative for water polo Marcus Ng and the Singapore Sport Hall of Fame and double Asian Games gold medallist swimmer, Tao Li.

The SG60 Swim Challenge runs from 2 April to 30 June 2025 and aims to achieve an overall target of 300,000 laps. The SG60 Swim Challenge aims to encourage an active lifestyle through swimming, while creating opportunities for people to connect with fellow swimmers and build community bonds. Members of the public can form a team of four to 10 members to complete 60 laps in a week while those who prefer swimming solo can swim six laps daily.

Members of the public may clock their swims via supported fitness devices at a pool of their choice or swim at one of the 10 participating ActiveSG pools from 5 April 2025. The list of ActiveSG pools and operation timings are indicated in Annex A.

Registration for the SG60 Swim Challenge can be done through the GameOn SG60 web application at https://gameonsg60.worldaquatics-singapore2025.com. Participants can earn points for swimming up to six laps daily, tracked via GameOn SG60. These points can be redeemed for prizes at the Fan Zone located at OCBC Square during the Championships. Each new account registration on GameOn SG60 will automatically qualify to enter a lucky draw for a chance to win a Mazda 3 Mild Hybrid.

As SG60 celebrations unfold, we invite everyone to make a meaningful impact to the community through sports by donating to SportCares through the GameOn SG60 web application. Donations to SportCares will help make sport more accessible to vulnerable members of society.

Other Upcoming Community Programmes
The public can look forward to take part in nine activities which will be added to the GameOn SG60 web application in May 2025, in the lead up to the World Aquatics Championships. These community programmes include community roadshows at participating malls, the Aquatic Quest and Aqua Fiesta Exploration where participants can earn points and rewards by completing tasks at stations located around competition venues. Participation is open to all age groups, including schools and corporates, to broaden sports participation at all levels.

Students can expect a total of 25 school roadshows, with opportunities for students to ‘meet-the- mascots’ and interact with TeamSG athletes. From the heartland malls to the city centre, nine community roadshows will bring interactive games and activities to shopping malls near you, starting in May 2025. We encourage the public to participate in these community programmes and be part of this major sporting event. The full list of community programmes available on the GameOn SG60 platform are listed in Annex B.

Meet Ollie and Dewey: Mascots of the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025
The launch event featured the debut of the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 mascots, Ollie and Dewey. These beloved local marine creatures – an urban otter and a gentle dugong – delighted participating teams and event attendees with their first public appearance. Full description of Singapore 2025 mascots can be found in Annex C.

“Hosting the Championships is something Singapore and Singaporeans can celebrate in our SG60 year,” said Mr Alan Goh, Co-Chair of the Singapore 2025 organising committee and CEO of Sport Singapore. “We will get to witness elite athletes compete in our own country in 100 days, and we are also organising activities where everyone can participate during this historic event.

“We will have the SG60 Swim Challenge and the Aqua Fiesta Exploration at Sentosa, where we welcome both casual participants and active sports enthusiasts. We also encourage all Singaporeans, not just our aquatic fans, to access our GameOn SG60 web application online and sign up for the fun activities on offer. Everyone can also look forward to the plush toy versions of our Ollie and Dewey mascots when our official merchandise launches in May.”

At the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025, more than 2,500 athletes are expected to compete in 77 medal events across six aquatic sports – swimming, artistic swimming, water polo, diving, high diving and open water swimming.
