SpongeBob Joins the Race to Save Our Seas: The Great Ocean Dash 2025

When fitness, fun, and purpose come together, something larger than a race begins to take shape. This November, Singapore will welcome the debut of The Great Ocean Dash, a nationwide ocean conservation campaign that blends the energy of sport with the urgency of sustainability, anchored by the playful charm of SpongeBob SquarePants™.

First launched in June 2025, the campaign has been building momentum across the island, drawing corporates, schools, communities, and families into action. Through a series of beach and underwater cleanups, education programmes and outreach activities, participants have been rolling up their sleeves to protect Singapore’s fragile marine ecosystems. By tapping into the global appeal of SpongeBob, the organisers have managed to take a serious issue like marine litter and frame it in a way that is approachable, engaging, and family-friendly. Conservation becomes not a chore, but a shared adventure.

All roads lead to the finale on 23 November 2025, when Palawan Green at Sentosa transforms into a vibrant hub of movement and meaning. More than five thousand runners are expected to gather for the three- and five-kilometre categories, ensuring that whether you are a casual jogger, a family with young children, or a seasoned runner, there is a place for you at the start line. Yet the run is only half the story. Once the finishing tape is crossed, participants will find themselves in the middle of a SpongeBob-themed carnival, where sustainability booths, workshops, games and photo opportunities offer a different kind of endurance challenge: how long you can keep the kids entertained while learning about the planet.

The campaign also carries with it an ambitious national pledge. As Singapore celebrates its sixtieth birthday, The Great Ocean Dash has committed to removing thirty thousand kilograms of marine litter by October 2025, while attempting a Singapore Book of Records milestone for the largest community-led ocean conservation effort. It is a reminder that every kilometre run and every piece of litter collected adds up to something far greater than individual achievement.

The driving forces behind this campaign are Orange Room, the team that created the TriFactor™ Series and has been connecting communities through sport since 2008, and Resolute Communications, a specialist in purposeful brand experiences. With support from the Public Hygiene Council and the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, the movement has rapidly grown from concept to national initiative.

For endurance fans, The Great Ocean Dash is more than just another race. It is a chance to run with meaning, to sweat for something bigger than ourselves, and to protect the playgrounds we so often take for granted. On 23 November, the dash is not only for fitness. It is for the future of our oceans.
