Jayden Tan Clocks Season Best in 200 Metres Individual Medley at World Aquatics Championships

Malaysia’s Jayden Tan produced his fastest swim of the year in the men’s 200 metres individual medley at the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 on Tuesday (29 July), clocking 2 minutes 7.07 seconds in the preliminary heats to finish 40th overall.
The time improves on his recent performances at the World University Games (2:07.11) and Malaysia Open (2:07.69), reflecting steady progress.
“I think overall it wasn’t too bad,” said Tan in an interview with Malaysia Aquatics. “It’s a season best for me — I did 2:07.11 at the World University Games last week and 2:07.69 at Malaysia Open, so it’s an improvement overall. It’s not a personal best, but it is a season best.”

“I’ll give it an eight considering everything. We just flew over from Berlin a couple of days ago, so we are a bit jet lagged. But I think it’s not an excuse, so I’ll give it an eight.”
Tan identified his backstroke leg as an area for improvement, noting, “Backstroke has always been my weakest stroke. It is not necessarily really slow, but it definitely can be improved.”
He returns to the pool on the final day of competition for the men’s 400 metres individual medley.
