Enrique-Elvis Duo Deliver Malaysia’s Best 10m Synchro Finish at World Championships

Malaysia’s Enrique Maccartney Harold and Elvis Priestly Anak Clement made a splash in their World Championships debut, finishing seventh in the men’s 10m platform synchro final on Tuesday (30 July) with a total of 374.70 points — the country’s best-ever result in the event.
After five rounds of consistent execution, the young pair were holding fourth and fifth place. But a less-than-ideal final dive saw them slip to seventh, in a closely contested field.
“Overall I’m very satisfied,” said Enrique. “But that last round, I wasn’t too happy with it. From the first to the fifth dive, we weren’t really thinking too much — just doing what we know. But in the final dive, that was my mistake. We were so close to fourth and third, so I felt a bit pressured and couldn’t deliver my best.”

Elvis, when asked about his overall impression, simply said: “I’m really satisfied.”
Their seventh-place result eclipses Malaysia’s previous best in the 10m synchro event — 10th place finishes by Bryan Nickson Lomas–James Sandayud in 2005 and Ooi Tze Liang–Chew Yiwei in 2015 — making this a breakthrough moment for the nation in men’s platform synchro.
With momentum and confidence on their side, Enrique and Elvis will now prepare for the men’s 10m platform individual event on Saturday, 2 August.
