Charlie Lindh Captures Maiden Asian Tour Title with Dramatic Finish in Morocco

Riding a wave of recent momentum, Sweden’s Charlie Lindh secured his breakthrough maiden title on the Asian Tour with a commanding four-shot victory at the am green IGPL Bharath Classic. The 28-year-old fired a spectacular eight-under-par 64 in the final round to finish at 18-under overall, erasing a three-shot deficit at the start of the day. The flawless round was the best of the tournament and punctuated a stunning grandstand finish, as Lindh eagled the 18th hole after sinking a 20-foot putt from the fringe.

The dramatic conclusion saw Lindh break away from a tight leaderboard as his closest competitors faltered down the stretch. American Charles Porter stormed into contention with a final-round 66, tying Lindh at 16-under par heading into the final hole. However, Porter’s title hopes vanished when he pushed his second shot onto the beach at the 18th, suffering a devastating double bogey to drop back to 14-under. He finished tied for second place alongside Thailand’s Settee Prakongvech, the overnight leader who struggled early and could only manage a final-round 71.

Lindh, who entered the week fresh off a runner-up finish at the Kolon Korea Open, credited an aggressive mindset for his final-round surge. Firing at every pin from the start, he capitalized on early birdies and never relinquished his attacking approach. “When I made the birdie on the sixth, I thought to myself, ‘all right, I got one shot to play with, and until I drop that shot, I can fire at everything,’” Lindh said. The victory earned him a $90,000 winner’s check and catapulted him to third place in the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

The breakthrough victory serves as a massive confidence boost for Lindh as the Asian Tour now shifts 180 kilometers north to the capital city of Rabat. Players will immediately transition to the highly anticipated $2 million International Series Morocco. For Lindh, who secured his win with his childhood friend on the bag just one day after the Swedish National Day, the momentum couldn’t arrive at a better time as he looks to solidify his standing on the tour.
