
Australia dominated the Asian Volleyball Confederation Beach Tour Pingtung Open twenty-six, capturing both the men’s and women’s gold medals as the tournament concluded on Sunday. In the women’s competition, Australia’s Stefanie Fejes and Taliqua Clancy secured the championship title with a twenty-one to nineteen, twenty-one to twelve victory over the Philippines’ Cherry Ann Rondina and Bernadeth Pons.
The women’s bronze medal was claimed by Thailand’s Naraphornrapat Taravadee and Worapeerachayakorn Kongphopsarutawadee, who defeated Japan’s Shiba Asami and Murakami Reika fifteen to twenty-one, twenty-one to seventeen, seventeen to fifteen in the third-place playoff.
In the men’s tournament, Thomas Hodges and Ben Hood defeated fellow Australians Mark Nicolaidis and Izac Carracher twenty-one to eighteen, twenty-one to fifteen to secure the gold medal, whilst D’Artagnan Potts and Jack Pearse defeated Thailand’s Kaewsai Dunwinit and Nakprakhong Banlue twenty-one to nine, twenty-one to fifteen for bronze.
Australia concluded the continental event with four medals in total, whilst the Philippines earned a single silver medal and Thailand added a bronze medal to their respective tallies.
