This accomplishment follows Leo’s previous record-setting performance in 2020 at the Taipei Marathon, where he clocked in at 2 hours, 23 minutes, and 13 seconds. After a four-year hiatus, Leo returned to the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon in October 2023, securing the third position with a time of 2 hours, 37 minutes, and 56 seconds.

In the highly competitive 2023 Fukuoka International Marathon, Kanya’s Githae Michael dominated the race, setting an extraordinary time of 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 8 seconds. Meanwhile, the first runner-up, Yang Shaohui from China, also made headlines by breaking China’s national marathon record, finishing the race in a remarkable 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 9 seconds. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 30 seconds set by his compatriot He Jie at the Wuxi Marathon earlier in the year.
