Sold Out: Malaysian Slots for KLSCM 2026 Sells Out for the Season

The 18th edition of the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) has officially reached its capacity for local participants. Public registration for the 2026 event opened at 10:00 am this morning, with slots for Malaysian residents selling out in just over five hours.

This year’s registration cycle began on 23 February, offering early access to those eligible for Priority Registration, as well as participants in the Run For A Reason (RFAR) programme and the Corporate Challenge.

Last Chance for Entries
While individual public slots are exhausted, runners determined to join the start line on 3 and 4 October 2026 still have a few alternative pathways:

  • Run For A Reason (RFAR): Individual runners can still secure a slot by registering under this charity initiative. Participants commit to raising funds for selected beneficiaries, including the Standard Chartered Foundation, Kechara Soup Kitchen, Hospis Malaysia, Teach For Malaysia, and Yayasan Jantung Kongenital Malaysia.
  • Corporate Challenge: Companies looking to foster team spirit can register through the KLSCM Corporate Challenge to compete as a team while raising money for RFAR charities.
  • International Participants: In alignment with Visit Malaysia 2026, non-Malaysian residents can still sign up until 31 July 2026, or until the 4,000 allotted international slots are fully taken up.

The “Hari Raya” of Running
Rainer Biemans, Director of Dirigo Events and Project Director of KLSCM, expressed his gratitude for the community’s enthusiasm. “We are grateful to the running community for their incredible response. We look forward to seeing everyone put their best foot forward and also to welcoming more international runners to our ‘Hari Raya of running’,” Biemans said.

He noted that the standard of the local running community has improved significantly in recent years. KLSCM continues to provide an international platform for athletes of all levels to showcase their abilities and chase new personal bests.

Owned and organised by Dirigo Events, KLSCM remains Malaysia’s premier distance running event, attracting over 40,000 runners from more than 70 countries. With a total prize purse of MYR 500,000, it remains the most anticipated weekend on the Malaysian running calendar.

For those who missed out on the initial surge, organisers advise keeping a close watch on official channels and partner promotions for any final opportunities to secure a bib.
