IRONMAN Group Has A New Owner

Advance announced today that it will acquire The IRONMAN Group from Wanda Sports Group Company Limited.

To triathletes, runners and cyclists, this means Wanda Sports Group will continue to operate IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® triathlon series, Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® and Epic Series®off-road mountain bike series races of The IRONMAN Group in China under an exclusive license agreement.

Returning to its roots in the USA, The IRONMAN Group started from a single race on O’ahu, Hawai`i in 1978 and has continued its way to own, organize, promote, and license endurance events for over 40 years, consisting of more than 235 events in over 50 countries, across triathlon, running, trail running, cycling and mountain biking. In triathlon alone, over one million international athletes participate in an IRONMAN Group race each year.

The sale is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approval, and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2020.
