Sizzling HOT! That was the unanimous reaction of all triathletes that competed at last weekend’s IRONMAN Malaysia.

Let us take a moment to celebrate the top Malaysian finishers of the full IRONMAN distance in Langkawi. The IRONMAN Triathlon race has been in and out of Malaysia since early 2000s. Verified timings, however, are only recorded since 2014.

In the women’s race, Chin Mei See held the top position from 2014 to 2018, with her finishing times steadily improving. Nur Syahariah Jusoh, affectionately known as Nursya among the local triathlon community, took the top spot this year, in searing hot conditions.

Competition among top Malaysian men has been centred around Mohd Amran Bin Abdul Ghani, Barry Lee Chun Sing, Mohamad Allie Helmy Sabtu and Shahrom Abdullah. Shahrom took the top spot in 2017 and once again shined this year. Amran, on the hand, won in alternate years – 2014, 2016 and 2018. Will Amran regain the top spot in 2020?
