China Clinches Two More Diving Golds to Extend Dominance at Singapore 2025

China extended its diving dominance at the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 by sweeping both finals on Monday (28 July), taking their tally to five gold medals after just two days of competition.
WANG Zongyuan and ZHENG Jiuyuan secured China’s fifth consecutive world title in the men’s 3m synchronised springboard, delivering a winning score of 467.31 points. Mexico’s Juan Manuel CELAYA HERNANDEZ and Osmar OLVERA IBARRA earned silver with 449.28, while Great Britain’s Jack LAUGHER and Anthony HARDING took bronze on 405.33. Hosts Singapore were represented by Max LEE and Ayden NG, who placed 22nd.
WANG, who has now competed in this event at four world championships, praised both the result and his new partner. “I’m pleased with today’s showing, and it’s also the highest score out of all four times,” said WANG. “My partner did really well today, and I was also able to perform to expectations.”
“I haven’t been partners with Jiuyuan for a very long time – it’s only been about a month plus,” he added. “We are the first in and the last out.” The duo now turn their attention to the long-term, with eyes on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. “A new Olympic quad, a new partnership… I believe there will be something good waiting for us in LA.”
ZHENG Jiuyuan, competing in his first world championships final with WANG, expressed gratitude for the opportunity. “I’m thankful to the team for having faith in me and giving me the chance to prove myself again,” said ZHENG. “I’ll follow big brother, work hard and do what I can within my control.”
In the women’s 10m synchronised platform, newly-paired CHEN Yuxi and ZHANG Minjie claimed gold with 349.26 points. Mexico’s Gabriela AGUNDEZ GARCIA and Alejandra ESTUDILLO TORRES took silver (304.80), while PRK’s JO Jin Mi and KIM Mi Hwa secured bronze (293.34). Diving action resumes on 29 July with the women’s 3m synchronised springboard and men’s 10m synchronised platform finals.
