While Powerman Malaysia 2020 will continue to be the top preference for a duathlon event in Malaysia, but seems like another tiger has popped up to offer duathletes an all-new experience in the discipline. Run Asia Kemensah has added an off-road duathlon category on top of its already well-known trail run event.
So, what is off-road duathlon? It is a form of duathlon, where competitors have to go through a trail-running stage and a mountain-biking stage. It is different from conventional duathlons in that the terrain for the cycling and running stages are generally unpaved, rough and hilly. This requires a different technique than conventional duathlon races, and the athletes employ mountain bikes rather than road bikes.
Not every city has its own little hideaway where locals go to relax and rejuvenate. Kuala Lumpur though is lucky to have one in the form of Kemensah where urban dwellers can be close to nature a short drive away. Specifically, Kem Isi Rimba within Ulu Kemensah, becomes the ideal venue roughing it out for Malaysia’s weekend warriors hence, it’s the choice location for Run Asia Kemensah 2020 from 11-12 April.
This two-day event comprises of 3 races which takes place over night and day.
NIGHT TRAIL RUN
- Date: Sat, 11 April
- Distances: 24km | 16km | 8km
- Registration Fees (until 31 Dec / 1 Jan onwards): MYR125/140 | MYR/95/105 | MYR 75/85
* 10 or more runners registering together will be entitled to a group discount.
DUATHLON
- Date: Sun, 12 April
- Format: 8km Trail Run – 32km Mountain Bike – 8km Trail Run
- Registration Fees (until 31 Dec / 1 Jan onwards): MYR230/260
5KM FUN TRAIL RUN
- Date: Sun, 12 April
- Registration Fees (until 31 Dec / 1 Jan onwards): MYR60/70
Race entitlements include event t-shirts, medals and buckles too. Trophies and cash prizes will be given out to podium finishers.
