Triathlon to feature in Vietnam 2021 SEA Games

The triathlon community in the Southeast Asian region will now have a new target to aim for in 2021.

Triathlon will continue to be a part of the South East Asian (SEA) Games as host country Vietnam has decided to include it in next year’s edition.

According to VN Express, the Southeast Asian Games Federation Executive Committee approved triathlon – together with e-sports, bowling and jiu jitsu – and will make a formal announcement in November.

Vietnam, which plans to hold the triathlon event in the northern Quang Ninh Province, will set up a federation in the future to develop the sport in the country.

Triathlon, which consists three disciplines – swimming, cycling and running- has been growing across many countries in the region. It was also included in previous editions of the games starting with Philippines 2005 , Thailand 2007, Singapore 2015, Malaysia 2017 and Philippines 2019.

The 31st SEA Games are scheduled to be held from November 21 to December 2, and the Para Games from December 14 to 21.
