Russel Pang, 16, clocked 7:54.40 in the men’s 800m freestyle and Reagan Cheng, 18, swam 1:57.05 in the men’s 200m individual medley, setting national and meet records on the final day of the 12th Singapore National Swimming Championships (SCM) 2026.

The short-course meet, organised by Singapore Aquatics at the OCBC Aquatic Centre, ended on 1 November with two national records and three meet records broken on the last day, according to Singapore Aquatics.

Pang, who swims for Singapore Swimming Club, took both 800m freestyle records from Artyom Lukasevits, whose 8:12.49 had stood since 22 November 2023.

Lukasevits, 22, finished second in 8:07.82, with Nicholas James Tan, 15, third in 8:19.26.

Cheng, of Chinese Swimming Club, won the 200m individual medley ahead of Vinayak Vijayashankar (2:00.03) and Cohen Chiam (2:01.43).

His time replaced the national and meet record of 1:57.18 set by Maximillian Ang on 28 November 2021.

Cheng added a meet record in the men’s 200m backstroke, winning in 1:57.04. The previous meet record of 1:57.32 was also held by Cheng.

The championships came a month before the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) 2026 in Beijing, according to Singapore Aquatics.
