London is calling 50,000 runners worldwide to join in the virtual 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon on October 3rd. This is in ADDITION to another 50,000 participants running in the physical race in the Big Ben city.
50,000 runners seems like a big deal in these COVID pandemic. This will be a record number of participants running from Blackheath to The Mall, with an increase of 7000 from the previous race on the streets of the capital.

People whom have casted their ballot will find out if they qualify for the actual race on February 8th. Those who did not earn a physical spot, will have the an exclusive window to enter the virtual event before giving others a chance to register.
In 2020, the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon was held for the first time with more than 37,000 runners worldwide. A total of 37,966 runners finished the 42.2 mile race on October 4th. Subsequently, the event earned the official Guinness World Records title for the ‘Most users to run a remote marathon in 24 hours’.
