Edwin Thiang wins inaugural MAD Aquathlon

SEA Games Triathlon Qualifier, Edwin Thiang Chong Yoong is definitely on the right path, as he won the inaugural MAD Aquathlon held in Port Dickson recently.

Winning the Standard Distance (750m swim followed by 5km run) and also the overall male champion, Edwin kept his composure even though he was lagging behind in the swim

“Swim was a bit sluggish, could be better and I definitely need to work on that. On the other hand, my run felt solid. I could hold the pace that I was targeting and keeping a good form, which I’m happy with,” said a victorious Edwin.

Edwin has been focusing on the Super Sprint Distance (300m Swim/7km Bike/1km Run team relay) format for the past few months to prepare for the upcoming Philippines SEA Games in November.

“In the swim, I was actually slightly behind two guys whom were leading, but managed to overtake both of them on the run. Turns out that one of them is a state swimmer, no wonder his swim was just too strong for me to follow.” said Edwin.

Overall, it was definitely a good race for Edwin, which puts him in a competitive mode and sharpens him up for the SEA Games.
