The Cayman Islands Triathlon celebrates its 20th anniversary with this year’s race scheduled for Sunday, November 6th in the Carribean Sea.

The triathlon is presented by Cayman First, and a portion of all race proceeds will be donated to Have a Heart Cayman Islands. The charity partners with local and international organizations to subsidize and provide life-saving heart surgeries for children in the Caribbean and around the world.

There are two race distances this year: the sprint distance (750-meter swim, 12.4-mile bike and 3.1-mile run) and the Olympic distance (1,500m swim, 24.8-mile bike and 6.2-mile run). Athletes have the option of participating as an individual or in a two- or three-person team for the Olympic distance. There is also an option to register as a corporate team.

Trevor Murphy, president of the Cayman Islands Triathlon Association, said in a press release,

“The triathlon is our flagship event. All Triathlon Association events – the Tri This Try, the Stroke & Stride and the Duathlon – lead up to this one. It is an exciting year for us celebrating 20 years of this sport in Cayman, and we are grateful to all the athletes who take part throughout the year.”

Registration is now open at www.caymanactive.com/registrations/triathlon.
