Tadonamo Triathlon club will have the biggest representation by a Malaysian triathlon club at the upcoming Ironman Malaysia on Nov 12th, with 54 triathletes on their list.
Registered as an official triathlon club with Ironman, Tadonamo is helmed by Syerul Nizam, an architect by profession and two-time Ironman himself. The club practises an open structure where everyone can play a part to volunteer or chip in according to the ability or availability.
The club will organise their support crew at two spots along the gruelling 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42km run route to cheer on their triathletes and others as well.
“We will set up a tent and station our support crew on the run route, at the hall and outdoors to give them a cheerful boost, and to keep their mental going strong when their physical body gets tired”, said Syerul Nizam.

“On the bike course, we will hang posters with motivational posters to encourage them on. At the Ironman Malaysia event, we’ve planned a surprise for our members to give them a final boost of motivation before they roll out to become an Ironman triathlete,” continued Syerul.
Tadonamo was started by Syerul and friend, Ellya Masriq who discovered the strong bonds and camaraderie while training for a triathlon. They wanted to share their passion with other aspiring triathletes, without the need for rivalry, competition and association with other clubs, hence they named themselves, ‘Tadonamo’ literally translated to ‘no name’ from the local lingo.
In the run up to Ironman Malaysia, Tadonamo organised a simulation in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan over 1.6km swim, 120km bike and 10km run around the Avillion Cove Resort. This weekend on November 5th, there will be a Stretching session in Putrajaya with Kannan Murugasan, an Ironman triathlete multiple times over and two-time Ultraman Canada finisher.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and it’s not so different in nurturing aspiring Ironman triathletes. Join a triathlon club if you’re interested in dabbling in three sports at once. You’ll find many training buddies who will encourage you along the journey to become an Ironman triathlete.
