2017 Reebok CrossFit Games to feature obstacle course
With 2 weeks left till the 2017 CrossFit Games in Madison, USA, Games Director Dave Castro keeps throwing spanners into the works to keep things exciting.
In case you missed it, event 1 will consists of an aquathlon – run, swim, run, while event 2 features a mountain bike. Go figure. Will an obstacle course be part of event 3 as announced by Castro via Instagram? Title sponsor of the CrossFit Games, Reebok is also the title sponsor of the Spartan Race. Will we see a crossover of standards in Madison this year?
“This year, see these athletes, and more, compete on our custom designed obstacle course we are building in Madison for the 2017.” said Dave Castro on Instagram.
The obstacle course was last featured in 2012, when the CrossFit Games athletes competed on the Marine Corps obstacle course on Camp Pendleton. Spencer Hendel, now Head Coach of Reebok CrossFit Medfield won the male division with 4-time ‘Fittest Man on Earth’ Rich Froning finishing third. 2-time ‘Fittest Woman on Earth’ Annie Thorisdottir took third in female division.
Stay tuned for updates to the CrossFit Games running from August 3rd – 6th.
