The Juggernaut Malaysia Open 2016 returned with a two-day event powered by Under Armour to challenge an athlete’s strength, speed, power and conditioning in CrossFit. The CrossFit event held recently featured categories for individuals and teams, held on separate days.
The individual challenges were broken into four categories: RX Men, RX Women, Scaled Men and Scaled Women. The RX category was specially designed for experienced athletes who have competed previously or have been training with fitness activities such as gymnastics, weightlifting and body conditioning for one year and above.
On the other hand, the Scaled category is catered for athletes who are taking on their first competition and those who are still gaining experience in functional fitness competitions.

You are the sum of all your training
“This event is tied closely to Under Armour’s 2016 campaign Rule Yourself. The tagline “You are the sum of all your training” defines it all. The campaign represents athletes’ and fitness enthusiasts’ willpower to never give up, and the constant push to make themselves better,” said Lynn D Ong, Assistant Marketing Manager of UA Sports Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
“This is what the brand believes in, where one will be able to take up any challenge given anytime and anywhere,” continued Ong.
Razlan Dawood, General Manager of AheM Ideas Sdn Bhd said:
“This year, the number of participation is double of what we had last year. The two-day event has brought a total of 154 participants from six different countries – Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Korea, and the Philippines coming together to challenge one another, vying for the Juggernaut Belt.”
“On top of that, we came up with a new category which is the Team Challenge due to the overwhelming feedback from previous participants. As you can see, the passion is real and this is for the community.”

Adhering to international standards, the RX Male and Female finale saw the introduction of the GAUNTLET 2.0 which started with a series of three-minute rope climbs. After a minute’s rest, the series included a minute each of box jumps, snatches, cleans, shoulder-to-overheads, double unders, thrusters, toes-to-bars and muscle ups. Athletes certainly had to prove their mettle and were ranked based on the total repetitions completed for each movement.

About The Juggernaut Malaysia Open
Launched in 18 April 2015, The Juggernaut Malaysia Open was initiated by Razlan Dawood, General Manager of AHeM Ideas Sdn Bhd along with Jonathan Wong, the founder and co-owner of PushMore CrossFit Malaysia.
CrossFit being a considerably new sport in Malaysia and due to the high cost of running such fitness event, Razlan and Jonathan decided to take up the challenge as they strongly believe that they are in a position of giving back to the community through the organisation of The Juggernaut Open. The fitness competition is as tough as it sounds and both Razlan and Jonathan believe that it is the best platform for athletes to challenge themselves based on strength, speed, power and body conditioning.
