Trail Runner Faiz Osman Pushes Limits at Spartan KL Honour Trifecta Weekend 2024
The Spartan KL Honor Trifecta Weekend 2024 gathered athletes from across the region, all eager to test their resilience and physical strength. Among them was first-time participant Faiz Osman, who embraced the event with enthusiasm, tackling each obstacle as a personal milestone and discovering new dimensions of endurance along the way.
As Faiz stood at the starting line, anticipation coursed through him. “I was eager to try the challenges throughout the race,” he reflected. The initial obstacles provided a steady start, helping him find his rhythm as he manoeuvred through the early stages of the course. “The first few obstacles were manageable, and I could clear them without any issues,” he remarked, noting how the course gradually intensified in difficulty.
For Faiz, the Spartan race proved a tougher test than anticipated, particularly the climbing obstacles that demanded substantial upper body strength. “I didn’t expect some of the obstacles to be this challenging,” he admitted. Recognising the opportunity for growth, he added, “I realised I need to work more on my upper body strength, especially for obstacles that require arm power.” This insight, he explained, would shape his future training approach.
The physical demands of the race became more apparent around the ninth kilometre, as fatigue and cramping set in. “I started feeling cramps in my legs,” Faiz explained, acknowledging the toll of recent limited training. “This was a good reminder of the importance of consistent training.” Despite the physical strain, Faiz maintained his composure, applying his strategy of calmness and control to finish the race safely.
Unfamiliar obstacles added an element of uncertainty, but Faiz adapted quickly by observing fellow racers. “I watched how others tackled the obstacles and followed their techniques,” he said, describing the sense of camaraderie that underscores Spartan events.

After crossing the finish line of his first Spartan race, Faiz was eager to encourage others to try the experience. “This race was thrilling—a refreshing change from what I’m used to,” he shared, recommending the Spartan series to fellow trail and road runners. “It’s a complete test of both mental and physical strength, especially in the arms and legs.”
With his sights set on future races, Faiz is looking forward to continuing his journey of self-improvement. For athletes like Faiz, the KL Honor Trifecta Weekend 2024 highlighted the power of resilience, unity, and a readiness to face any challenge.
