Malaysia was hoping for a gold from Perlis-born Jupha Somnet in the women’s Mass Cycling race but she had to settle for silver instead at the KL SEA Games 2017.

The 101km race held in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan was won by Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi in a bunch sprint, pipping 24-year old Jupha and Indonesia’s Priatna Ayustina Delia to the finish line. Jupha also won the silver in the women’s Criterium race two days earlier.
