Britain’s Jonny Brownlee finally returned to winning way as he secured his first World Triathlon Series win of the year in Stockholm, Sweden.
In the penultimate race, the 2012 world champion completed the 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run in 1 hour 49 minutes and 10 seconds, just pipping Norway’s Kristian Blummenfelt by 18 seconds. With his third victory in Stockholm, 27-year-old Jonny has moved up to sixth in the leaderboard.
France’s Pierre le Corre was third, with Spain’s defending world champion Mario Mola in seventh. Mola must now finish the final race of the season – in Rotterdam in three weeks’ time – no lower than fifth to retain his title.
