Indonesia’s Rahmad Setiabudi and Singapore’s Huang Xin Rong Shine as 5KM Champions at Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2023

The 5KM category of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2023 witnessed a dazzling dual triumph as Indonesia’s Rahmad Setiabudi and Singapore’s Huang Xin Rong emerged as the undisputed champions of their respective divisions.

Victory in the Men’s 5KM race belonged to Indonesia’s Rahmad Setiabudi, who blazed through the course with exceptional speed, completing it in a remarkable time of 17 minutes 21 seconds. Reflecting on his win, Rahmad shared, “Race conditions today were great, and I am pleased with the result.” His words echo the sentiment of a runner who conquered not just the track but also the challenges posed by the course.

In the Women’s 5KM category, Singapore’s Huang Xin Rong showcased her running prowess, claiming the top spot with a commendable time of 21 minutes 15 seconds. Her victory not only solidifies her status as a formidable runner but also reflects the depth of local talent participating in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.

On the local front, Singapore’s Ong Chang Zhi stood out as the top local finisher in the Men’s 5KM race, crossing the line in fourth place with a notable time of 18 minutes 6 seconds. The 13-year-old aspiring long-distance runner, making his second SCSM appearance, expressed his delight, saying, “I’m really happy to finish in fourth place today. This is an improvement from my previous position of 11th place, and I am determined to keep working hard to achieve my dreams of representing the country in the Southeast Asian Games in the future.”

The elite, marathon and half marathon categories for the race will commence tomorrow, 3 December 2023.
