2008 CrossFit Games Champion Jason Khalipa has proven himself as one of the world’s top fitness athletes, but he has continued to inspire himself with new challenges.
While struggling with with his daughter’s bout with leukemia, Khalipa has also expand his business, NC Fit to multiple countries and continents. In terms of sports, he has also taken up martial arts with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and won first in his division in a recent competition. No challenge is insurmountable for Khalipa who’s on a roll, and even has found time and energy to go mountain biking and trail running.
Khalipa has also announced his intentions to return to CrossFit in 2017. In 2015, he competed at the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games with NorCal CrossFit team but skipped 2016 to support his daughter during her treatments.
In his Instagram post, Khalipa dedicated his win to his wife, Ashley.
“Really cool experience tonight at my first BJJ competition. Thankful to have finished 1st in my division “adult 208lb” (tough matches). Big thank you to @ashleykhalipa for always supporting me unconditionally. 2017 CrossFit Games season is next.”
Instagram fans also echoed their support and encouragement in Khalipa’s return.
“I’ve been following since starting my #Crossfit journey and absolutely love that you started training #bjj. I’ve been doing it since 2006 and think the two sports go really well together. Thank you for showing other crossfitters that it’s okay to go out and try new sports. Hope to see more of these photos of you kicking butt in BJJ,” wrote fan, latinofuerte.
