Spartan Race, the world’s largest obstacle race and endurance brand, announced the launch of their first ever Asia Pacific Championship Series. The first event of the series will kick off on the 22nd of April in Hong Kong and end with the fifth event in Australia where the first ever APAC Champions will be crowned. Racers will be competing for over USD $50,000 in cash and prizes across the entire series.

The Asia Pacific Championship series will have 4 qualifying events starting with the Hong Kong Sprint (5km + & 20+ obstacles) on April 22nd, the Taiwan Super (13km+ & 22+ obstacles) on May 20th, the Korea Super on June 10th, the Malaysia Super on July 9th, and culminating with the Australia Beast at the end of November.

Spartan Race Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Michael Goodwin, said “The inaugural Spartan Race Asia Pacific Championship Series is a testament to the passionate athletes and weekend warriors who have propelled us from hosting Spartan events in 2 APAC countries in 2015, to what will be 10 plus APAC countries/regions in 2017.”

Elite racers will be awarded points based on their rankings from any of the 5 events of the Championship series. The top 10 male and female elite racers, as well as the top 3 male and female elite master’s racers with the most points will walk away with the grand prize money. Each qualifying event will also award prize money to the top 5 male and female elite racers, as well as the top 3 male and female master’s racers.

The award-winning racers from the first 4 qualifying events will also receive a guaranteed spot in the final event of the APAC Championship series – The Australia Beast. For the first time, Spartan Age Group Competitors will also be recognized during the award ceremony. The top 3 male and female finishers from the following Competitive Age Group Asia Pacific Championship brackets will be presented with awards and non-monetary prizes: 18-24, 25-32, 33-39, 40-49, 50+.
