Because the vibrant town of Betong sits right on the Malaysian border, it is incredibly Muslim-friendly! You won’t have to pack your suitcase full of instant noodles or worry about finding a place to pray. Betong is packed with fantastic Halal food options and beautiful local mosques, all just a stone’s throw from the race’s starting line at the Betong Mongkollit Tunnel.

Craving a hot, comforting breakfast before your morning shakeout run? Tahoo Dimsum is a fantastic, highly rated local spot offering authentic, Halal-certified dim sum right in town. It’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite and warm tea before hitting the trails.

Big Tree Restaurant-Muslim
When you are looking to carb-load heavily the night before your race, Big Tree Restaurant-Muslim is a famous local favorite! This is the perfect spot for a hearty, satisfying traditional meal. It is well-known amongst both locals and visiting Malaysian tourists for its generous portions.

Hantana Restaurant Cafe
Highly recommended and totally photogenic! Hantana Restaurant Cafe serves an amazing mix of authentic Thai cuisine and Western comfort dishes—perfect for replacing those burned calories. With over three decades of history and a beautiful, Instagram-worthy interior, it is a brilliant place to relax and celebrate your finish line victory with your running crew.

Halal Cafe’ – Steakhouse (Betong Branch)
Need a massive protein punch after crossing the finish line? Treat yourself to a celebratory steak dinner here! Known for its incredibly tender meats, large portions, and budget-friendly prices, this steakhouse is a fantastic option when you need to recover those tired leg muscles.

Kru_Cup Cafe’ Betong
If you need a caffeine hit before your race briefing, Kru_Cup Cafe’ is a lovely, relaxing Halal cafe offering a great mix of premium coffee, bakery treats, and Southeast Asian cuisine. It is a very cozy spot featuring wooden interiors, making it a great place to sit back, read a book, and mentally prepare for your ultra-distance.

Lay’s Cafe Bingsu and Dessert
You absolutely cannot leave Betong without treating yourself to dessert here! This Muslim-friendly (pork-free) cafe is famous for its incredible sweet treats. We highly recommend their signature Mango Sweet Black Sticky Rice or the Salted Egg Yolk Bualoi Bingsu to cool down after a sweaty day in the jungle.
