IRONMAN: Quest for Kona to be unveiled

IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holding company, announced today that the 13 finalists for the new broadcast series titled “IRONMAN: Quest for Kona” have been selected. The athletes will be unveiled over the coming weeks on IRONMAN social and digital platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and www.ironman.com beginning Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

“We are excited to profile extraordinary athletes with varying personalities and backgrounds from around the world, including Germany, United Kingdom, United States, South Africa, Australia, China and Poland,” said Christopher Stadler, Chief Marketing Officer for IRONMAN.

“The IRONMAN World Championship is the pinnacle of endurance sports – it will be compelling to watch the commitment and drive of these athletes in their pursuit of this ultimate goal.”

The series, scheduled to air in the fall of 2017, will profile ten charismatic and dedicated athletes from around the world as they embark on their journey to qualify for the most iconic single-day endurance event, the IRONMAN® World Championship, which takes place in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i.

Each episode will feature one athlete as they take on a specific IRONMAN qualifying event, capturing the breathtaking scenery and distinct challenges the course presents. The athlete will also have an opportunity to document their unique personal journey, highlighted through self-shot footage as a supplement to the broadcast content. While not every athlete may ultimately qualify, each will show that IRONMAN is about persevering, enduring and being a part of something larger than themselves, proving that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE®.

Stay tuned to find out which athletes will have the chance of a lifetime to showcase their powerful stories both on and off the course. Additional information on each athlete selected can be found at www.ironman.com/questforkona as they are unveiled.
