IRONMAN announced today the addition of the IRONMAN® 70.3® Buenos Aires triathlon, the eighth IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 race in South America and the first in Argentina.
IRONMAN 70.3 Buenos Aires will take place on March 6, 2016, along the beautiful Atlantic Coast of Argentina. The race venue is just north of downtown Buenos Aires in Tigre, an affluent residential and commercial area known for its rich culture and history.
“We are thrilled to offer athletes an IRONMAN 70.3 event in Buenos Aires. The country and culture provide an ideal location for an exceptional race experience,” said Steve Meckfessel, Managing Director of Global Race Operations for IRONMAN.
The IRONMAN 70.3 Buenos Aires triathlon begins with a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim in the calm and warm waters of Puerto Canoas. The lake is surrounded by some of finest architecture in Buenos Aires, making it a truly unique course.
Athletes will then embark on a flat and fast double-loop, 56-mile (90 km) bike course that travels through Camino de los Remeros and Boulevard de Todos los Santos with amazing views of the city.
Finally, athletes will take on a 13.1-mile (21 km) run course that winds around the river and through a lovely residential zone full of Pine and Alamos trees. The course offers striking river and cultural views as it passes by some of the most scenic areas in Buenos Aires.
“Nordelta, a private and exclusive real estate project, is the ideal home for the IRONMAN 70.3 Buenos Aires triathlon because of its exceptional venue and breathtaking landscapes,” said Abayuba Rodriguez, IRONMAN 70.3 Buenos Aires Race Director.
“Its location just 25km from downtown Buenos Aires and only 30 minutes from Ezeiza International Airport makes it even more appealing to athletes and their supporters.”
The largest city in Argentina, Buenos Aires is also the most visited city in all of South America. The city boasts historic sights and locations along with the modern accommodations of transportation and lodging.
With its high accolades and stunning landscapes, Buenos Aires also boasts the highest quality of life in Latin America. Its location on the eastern shore of Argentina and off of the Rio de la Plata estuary makes Buenos Aires a perfect vacation destination in South America.
Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world. As its capital, Buenos Aires is a main cultural metropolis, offering museums, theaters, carnivals and much more. Its temperate climate, high-quality roads and centralized location make Buenos Aires an ideal IRONMAN 70.3 race location.
