CrossFit is heating up all over the country and it’s only fitting that the Battle of the North (BOTN) 2016 CrossFit challenge in Penang next month is expected to be the biggest cross fit competition in the northern region.

Organised by Orient Fitness over multiple-days, the event will be hosted at the Permata Sports Complex in Paya Terubong from April 30 to May 2.

Cross Fit workouts encompass high intensity training in a variety of physical disciplines like weightlifting, gymnastics, mobility and functional workouts. The BOTN will cover additional disciplines like running, swimming and rowing in categories for Men & Women’s Open, and Men and Women’s Scaled.

“Each cross fit competitor will be tested across the board over the three days of competition. We are keeping the details of the event a secret, and will only reveal them closer to the competition date,” said BOTN 2016 director Kevin Chang.

Chang is expecting more than 100 participants to sign up for the event with competitors coming from Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and the Philippines to vie for the top cash prizes.

The pre-tournament favourites for the BOTN 2016 are Singapore’s John Cheah (Men category) and Malaysia’s Bronwyn Clacher (Women).
