Before you can recover from DOMS, and before the dust can settle on your bikes, IRONMAN Malaysia has announced its return to Langkawi next year on 17 November 2018.
IRONMAN Malaysia is rated the second toughest IRONMAN race in the world after Kona, Hawaii is proudly hosted by Langkawi Island, the Jewel of Kedah. Located within a cluster of tropical islands that attract visitors the world over, the race will take athletes on a truly Malaysian cultural journey through tropical, hilly and demanding terrain passing traditional kampungs (villages), mangrove clusters and rainforest vistas.
The 3.9km ocean swim starts from a sandy, Pantai Kok beach with a two-loop triangle out to Eagle Point and back. After which, triathletes race along 180km through a two-loop bike course, anti-clockwise up around Gunung Raya mountain passing by Kuah town. On the final 42km run, triathletes traverse along the Langkawi Airport before crossing the finishing line along the Cenang beach.
To those who said that it’ll be your last IRONMAN race, we know you don’t really mean it. We’ll see you there next year! In the meantime, go ‘poison’ some friends into joining the biggest Triathlon party in Langkawi over 226km.
