It’s about time for renowned SEA Games Triathlon champion Kimbeley Yap-Chelliah to cash in on the statement, “You should write a book!”. Coming back from a near-fatal accident which nearly paralysed her, Kimbeley has indeed bounced back to life, with the same determination that made her the renowned champion Triathlete that she is.

“As long as I live, I will fight”

The book is an easy-to-read 100-page full colour journey of Kimbeley’s life, the lessons she has learned as a swimmer, runner, cyclist and triathlete, with photographs and interviews with the people who journeyed with her since she was a child up to her adult life today.

“I tried not to be present when my family and friends were interviewed so that they have the freedom to ramble on about me, without having to say something nice intentionally,” Kimbeley told us about the process of writing the book.

Kimbeley hopes that this book will inspire and empower people from all walks of life, especially younger athletes and kids trying to overcome difficult situations in their life. This book will throw you in a whirlwind of inspiration, motivation and emotions.

Kimbeley Yap Book

Today, Kimbeley has left the world of Triathlon but is regularly invited to give motivational talks and share tips with aspiring triathletes, a sport which she’s sparked tremendous interest since her golden haul in two SEA Games for Malaysia.

Kimbeley now works as a Professional Trainer and Movement Specialist working with people to help them move better and to enjoy fitness. She’s happily married to Noel Chelliah who runs Daily Muscle, and they are both constantly trying to improve the fitness industry with a new project in the pipeline.

The book, ‘But By Grace’ was made possible through the support of her friends and family through a crowd-funding exercise done in December 2015, where Kimbeley managed to raise RM17,500 in 60 days from contributors from all over the world, to help fund the costs of self-publishing.
