If you are still thinking about taking up CrossFit, this video might just get you off your sofa and into a CrossFit box today.
Lindsay Hilton was born without arms and legs, and has accidentally gotten 6 million views to the video of her working out at a CrossFit box in Canada. Hilton adapted her life to CrossFit and turned into an inspirational video sensation for all of us.
The two-minute video posted on CrossFit’s official Facebook page on March 9, shows Hilton who was born without limbs, complete her workouts with weightlifting hooks and Velcro straps.
“It’s kind of crazy.. I definitely was not expecting that many people to see me do that workout,” she told Metro Halifax.
CrossFit has often been the subject of controversy because of its strict adherence to the “no pain, no gain” philosophy. The program, created in 2000 by former gymnast Greg Glassman, combines various workout disciplines like Olympic weightlifting and cardio into one-hour classes.
Some experts say the program can lead to injuries because of the combination of high-intensity with high speed, but followers of the exercise say injuries can be prevented with proper form.
Hilton said she chose CrossFit because she was looking for a new challenge, and it seems like that’s exactly what she got.
In 2013, Hilton took on another challenge, and was profiled by the CBC for her rugby skills. In 2012, she even won the Spirit of Rugby Award for her on-field achievements.
When asked how she adapted to the sport, she replied, “This is all I know. So it’s hard for me to know what I’m adjusting to and what is just what you do.”
This video of Lindsay will make you want to do CrossFit right out the door.
