Renowned Indonesian race-car driver Rio Haryanto took part in his first triathlon at the Bintan Triathlon held in Riau Islands recently.

“I participated in this event to work on my cardio and physical strength, but most importantly, I’m here to enjoy the beauty of Bintan Island,” said Haryanto.

After finishing the F1 series in Singapore last year, Haryanto and his fellow racers went to Bintan and Bali for a vacation.

Approximately 1,400 athletes from 30 countries took part in the two-day international triathlon organised by Metasport, featuring five categories: Olympic Distance (1.5 km swim; 40 km bike; 10 km run), Sprint Distance (750 meter swim; 20 km bike; 5 km run), Youth Distance (300 meter swim; 12 km bike; 3 km run), Kids Distance (150 meter swim; 6 km bike; 1.5 km run) and Fun Duo Challenge (1.5 km run; 150 meter swim; dash to the finish line).
