Mother Audrey and her 16-year old daughter Ciosa have been bonding over Crossfit now for 2 years. They have even competed in their first paired scaled competition together, and performed well with daughter Ciosa hitting a 60kg clean PR, just over her body weight.

Mother Audrey started attending gym but needed something more challenging when a coach suggested that she try CrossFit in 2015. Ciosa was also encouraged to join her mum as it might pique her interest as she has a background in gymnastics.
The mother and daughter bonding sessions then began over weights and the various gymnastic-based movements at CrossFit Galway in Ireland. The (friendly) rivalries began at home, comparing scores and the competitive natures kicked in too.

“I don’t think I am competitive but I think Ciosa disagrees with me. She thinks I am very competitive and that I always want to achieve higher scores than her; I don’t see it as serious competition between us, it’s more a bit of fun,” says mother Audrey.
The family doesn’t stop there, with younger Abbi taking up CrossFit Kids too at the tender age of seven.
“You get fit, it’s fun, its good exercise, teachers are fun, you make lots of friends like Simona… Oh and you get to have parties where an ice-cream van comes around and you get to pick your own ice cream,’ says 7-year old Abbi.
