Basketball players cross train with CrossFit to improve strength and athleticism

CrossFit is indeed spreading like wildfire around the globe, and now across all sports. Texan Mount Pleasant Tiger basketball team is toughening up their players by cross training with CrossFit in the hunt for a district championship trophy in Texas, USA.

After falling just a couple of games short last year from reaching the coveted title, the Tigers knew they had to increase their toughness and overall athleticism to make it happen this year.

“I knew our guys needed to do multiple types of lifts and exercises to improve strength and quickness.  They needed a new challenge and new functional movements to push them past their mental limits.  Crossfit Tico graciously opened up their doors and pushed our guys to work hard”, said head coach Joey Chism.

CrossFit Tico in Texas opened for business recently with 3000 sq ft of workout space and coaches that push you to reach your goals.

“CrossFit really helped with my hip flexibility which will help me guard quicker players this year and at the next level,” said James Moore.

The team has spent the last six weeks working out there each day after school.  Senior post James Moore is looking to help his team improve upon their 20-win season last year.
